This year’s “Relay Revue” will be March 10 at 7 in the Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County. The variety show is the main fundraising project of the theater’s Relay for Life team with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society for research, patient services and education. Producer-director Roxie Long said that auditions will be held at 7 on February 27 at the theater. Those interested should bring a CD if they will be singing or dancing. Any other act should be prepared to audition a sample of what they wish to do in the show. There will be one mandatory rehearsal on Friday, March 9 at 7 pm. “In the past we have had a true variety show, with singing, dancing, comedy and dramatic readings,” said Long. She said the volunteer performers were a mix of Little Theatre veterans and talent from the community. Competition will be held in youth and adult divisions. The program also will include door prizes and a time of recognition for cancer survivors who are in attendance. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the event. All seats are general admission and a $10 donation is suggested. Those seeking more details may contact her at (330) 859-2909 or longroxie@yahoo.com. Long also said that anyone interested in joining the Relay for Life team may contact her. The annual walk will be June 1-2 at Franklin Park in Strasburg. The theme this year is “Cruisin’ For A Cure.”

Our latest show, No Sex Please, We're British, received a lot of media attention this weekend! It began with two articles in our local paper, The Times Reporter, and ended with articles in papers across the country and even a short spot on Fox 8 News!

The Times Reporter ran a lovely article in the entertainment section about cast member, Jerry Marlowe. But this article was over shadowed by a front page article about our show poster being banned from the Tuscarawas County Courthouse. This article was picked up by the Associated Press, and ended up being ran in newspapers across the country, including the Washington Post. One cast member even found that the article had went international turning up in a London newspaper. Fox 8 News ran a short story about the incident on the 10 pm news on Saturday.

Come find out what all of the buzz is about! There are two more chances to see No Sex Please, We're British. Tickets are still available for the final two performances on Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26 beginning at 8 pm. Call the box office for tickets at 330.343.4012.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! The Little Theatre, in conjunction with the Ohio Community Theatre Association (OCTA), will be collecting items for the school children in Joplin, Missouri. The area was devastated by tornados in May, destroying many of the schools and causing students to have to start the school year in empty stores in area malls. The items that are needed are: pens, pencils, tablets, erasers, rulers, glue sticks, 3 ring binders, bath soap, deodorant, towels, wash cloths, razors, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, and hair brushes. They DO NOT need clothes. Money is always welcome. Items can be dropped off at the theatre from 6:30-8:30pm Monday through Thursday. You can also contact Roxie Long at 330.859.2909 (home) or 330.204.5135 (cell) to make arrangements to drop off items or have them picked up for your convenience. Items will be collected through Thursday, September 1 when items will be delivered to OCTA officials at the State OCTA Conference. Thank you for contributing to this worthwhile cause!
